The (ECAC) Ebenezer Community Alliance Church is a visible manifestation of Christ’s Body of believers under the Christian and Missionary Alliance Churches of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMACOP). The desire of the Church leaders is to be a channel of His glory, power and grace. Thus, the Church leadership has formulated her Mission Statement: “Ebenezer Community Alliance Church exists to glorify God by obeying His commands, in making disciples and making them disciplers of others.”
We have envisioned to develop the Church as a place where our students in the Seminary (EBCS) can actualize, verbalize what they learn from the classrooms. I want to share what I have learned from a Seminar-Workshop from Rev. Greg Laurie many years back. I like it because it spells out a “WELL” Church. We want to see this happen in ECAC!
W - WORSHIP: Every believer in Christ must meet together regularly, for fellowship, instruction, communion, praise and prayer (Acts 2:42, 47). In this gathering God is to be the focus of all that we do in His Church. (Colossians 3:23).
E - EVANGELIZE: Everyone who loves the Lord must as believers share to others the joy in our hearts and the Love of God we have received. As everyone shares the Word of God, the Lord will add new believers to the Church (Acts 2:47) We all can take part in spreading the GOSPEL by developing Friendship, by giving a tract to someone about the Gospel or sharing Scripture verses with a stranger (silent messenger) as they read it.
L - LEARN: We as a community in Ebenezer (Faculty members and students) must continue to learn sound doctrines taught by qualified leaders (Acts 2:42). The Bible is filled with Instructions for living the Christian life and walk. We should take every opportunity to learn from it. Apply it to our lives and contexts and be able to Teach others.
L - LOVE: As members of Christ’s Family we are to share with whoever has need, and enjoy regularly the fellowship of other believers (Acts 2:45-46). A Well and Dynamic Church such as ECAC will Worship, Evangelize, Learn and Love to be an effective influencer in the community, and be appreciated by “all the people” (Acts 2:47).
I believe that with these thoughts in mind for ECAC we can turn an ordinary job into an extraordinary mission if we realize that God has called us and placed us in our work as an opportunity to influence others for His Kingdom and glory. Remember that we are called by God through His Son Jesus Christ to a life of Sonship; we are called by God to a life of Servanthood. If we keep this directly in our hearts and minds, then our workplaces will change. We will respect our coworkers, seeing them through God’s eyes. In the end, we will become servant leaders - just as Christ instructed us to be. Amen!*
